i usually clean my tanks by half filling them with a mixture of kerosene and petrol , adding small pebbles like perlite then let the tank go round on my outdoor rotisserie for about 24 hours on say 15 to 20 rpm. has never failed yet cheers Bill

i am about to purchase a tool to hone a seagull cylinder, however i am not sure about the grits of the stones i need. would anyone be able to give me some advice on this please?

well i finally got around to putting the engine back together with the FV crank in the late featherweight case. however when i try to fit the flywheel on the wipac baseplate it wants to slide too far down the shaft and catch itself on the plastic covered coil as it turns! maybe a bent crank i guess ...

yes you pretty much have it now....no flaying or plank walking necessary! :D the 5 blade hydrofans though. came out with the very first century(LLS) as well as the 4 bladed one. the LLS by the way is unique among centuries because of the studs in the head instead of bolts.....you only have to undo t...

hmm..... ok. still sounds like a gearbox problem to me. maybe check the thrust washer....cant think of anything else at the moment

i wouldnt mind betting that you have no back and forward play in the propeller shaft! check that first if there is not a bit of movement in that direction the engine will NEVER run under any load! i discovered this myself only a couple of months ago!

no...... the distance between the bottom of the rotor and the top of the gasket should be about 1/16"

gold plating eh? sounds like your friend likes your gulls. bit out of my budget too ..... think ill stick to polishing.would gold look better than brass? not much if any i am thinking
