Re: front end cap bush and bevel pinion removal?

Thanks I'm checking out options in case shipping gets too costly on the whole unit, the Canadian dollar is in the tank right now, basically 1/2 a British pound I found that thread just after posting mine, I don't have a replacement bevel pinion but I do have a bush in a century end cap that would do ...

40 plus clutched long shaft gearbox woes FPCl 667CC8

I haven't been here for a while It's because, after a lower end mishap with the above mentioned engine I switched briefly to the dark side(Johnson) but as that motor was a short shaft and prone to being completely submerged and drowned on the back of my Danica 16 when I'd get nailed by a large power...

79 40 plus longshaft with clutch, top and bottom disagree

I have a 78-79 40 plus longshaft with a clutch I've been using it for a couple years now, great motor I replaced one of the bottom end seals(the one behind the prop) as it seemed to be leaking it's oil I couldn't get at the top seal. Anywho a few weeks back I'm going on a camping trip and the motor ...

Re: long range tanks or refuelling pump?

The 'kit' I believe, is an extra seagull tank cap, and parts purchased at the marine section of a sporting goods store, or a proper marine store.
Then you need a drill and a tap and die set

Re: long range tanks or refuelling pump?

I guess the idea with the breather hole is to have it on the aft end of the cap once it's tightened down?
or keep some sort of tiny plug handy for when it's tilted (which for me is usually most of the time unless it's necessary to motor)

Re: long range tanks or refuelling pump?

Can I have it??? haha
Is that a gallon tank like the squarish steel ones they made for the other models?
I have one of those, but I haven't seen one of the large round ones around these parts

Re: 102 vs century

Another connundrum I just noticed in my late night seagull tinkering:
All my other seagulls have had the gear oil plastic filler plug on the top part of the end cap.
My 102 has it on the bottom, is it supposed to be that way or is my end cap on upside down,,and is that possible?

long range tanks or refuelling pump?

Is there a long range tank for a 102? Also I seem to remember seeing that someone had used an old cap and made a hand pump sort of refuelling unit that they could use whilst they were under way . I wanted to go on a longer jaunt (over 4 hrs) and didn't want to be caught in chop, hanging off the back...

Re: 102 vs century

I took the bottom end off..quite funny actually as the gasket seems to be made of an old boot sole or something similiar. Very definitely leather, quite poorly cut (goes underneath the rotor) and with the original small nail holes in it I found it interesting that on this model the rotor is a sepera...
