Re: Working on the "D"

Excellent, you have most of the hardest to find items already. One thing I would advise, be pedantic! If you are going to do one of these more rare engines, then it’s worth doing it properly. Little details like the correct fuel tube make the difference, and give you hours of fun making them.

Re: Another box of bits

You have enough there to start putting that engine together, D engines are one that does not crop up that often, the flangeless magneto is also correct. Steel tanks are also quite hard to find, and original bayonet caps are very rare!

Well done with that box of bits! Medium rarity engine 8)

Can’t be that big a market in New Zealand either. They would never shift?

Re: A little gift

Here’s a another photo of a wartime side mount, only a few of these known to exist. Also a photo of a brass inlet trumpet, fitted to a rare brass carb body.

Chris, you started this thread, so how about posting photos of the details you are talking about? That way we can all understand what you are going on about..

Re: BMB Britannia

Could you take a full set of high quality photos showing these, perhaps with a rule on top of the tank showing the dimensions? Its not often we get to see original decals in such a good condition! Brilliant to see :P

Re: Helicoiled at birth?

I've also seen several centuries with helicoiled plug threads, I suspect you are right, they were done at the factory.

Re: Project engine

If you removed the flywheel would a small motor fit under the recoil starter housing? Petrol tank could hold electrics?
