Re: What holds the crank bush in place?

When working on a 70 year old motor getting new parts is difficult and expensive. yes replacing bad parts often fixes the problem but its not always a viable solution. Loctite breaks down with heat and as such is never going to work. The grinding paste was used to fit the crank shaft to the bush as ...

What holds the crank bush in place?

The top crank bush on my 102 moved (rotated) and blocked the oil hole causing it to over heat. i pressed out the bush and fit it back onto to the crank shaft with grinding paste and a lot of twisting to get a good fit. the tolerance between the bush and the crank is good, freely rotates but no sidew...

Re: Is this normal? 102 woes

new development! i took the plug out and noticed it was still stiff to turn over, i hadnt noticed how much force was needed to spin her until i compared it side by side to my other 102. obviously everything moves but its noticeably harder to turn her than the other one which spins freely when in neu...

Is this normal? 102 woes

Picked up a 1952 model 102 with what looks like a dent in the head as if it was dropped on the spark plug, the broken plug got me thinking that anyway. does anyone know if this is how they came or if its damaged? Serial number AC27921 I couldn't help myself and got her running and on the water, she ...

Re: New guy here having carb issues

well after a little looking around i was fortunate enough to be given not one but 3 amal 2 jet carbs, i stripped them all as they were really gunky and rusted. built up one and slapped it on. the motor runs so much better with her original carb and fresh juice with quality oil. Theres a bad misfire ...

Re: Transom mounting height

Thanks for the pic, i figured out some kind of collar would be needed, ive used a piece of PVC pipe cut open along the length and slipped over the drive shaft, its not a permanent solution but will allow me to make adjustments on the water till i find the right height. then i suppose ill need to mak...

Transom mounting height

hey all Is there a way to adjust the mounting depth of a 102? Im not even sure what the correct mounting depth should be but im guessing this is too low when sitting near the aft. With two up the dinghy is more level on the water which raises the motor a bit but it still seems too deep. also when no...

Re: New guy here having carb issues

Bluff Southland? Jetting you carb is not going to be easy, as it was probably used on a motor of half the ccs & with a 50 : 1 fuel mix. Bluff South Africa, ive updated my rushed profile 8) Well a pw80 is an 80cc 2stroke single cylinder motor, not far off from the 100cc seagull, i really hoped i...

Re: New guy here having carb issues
