Re: high tension lead or...?

lump hammer.jpg If you whack a brass nut with a big hammer on a steel thread, then you will just rip through all of the threads on the brass nut because brass is a softer metal than steel. As I said I learned that lesson the hard way! I am calling my bodgered version a "Frankengull." In t...

Re: high tension lead or...?

My problem is how to remove flywheel that is stuck tight. I know someone should hold flywheel while another whacks craknshaft nut. Tried, but nothing gives. Afraid of harming crankshaft, etc. Could heating flywheel help? Also have a ruined crankcase and crankshaft assembly with breakerless CD ignit...

Re: trolley

Re: Is it Just me?

@Keith.P I'm assuming that as a regular knowledgeable poster on here that you are fully aware that the "R" usually refers to a a later stamp added for factory Reconditioned. Just posting the link for others less familiar with the engine serial number codes as if you try to look up SJMR0462...

Quite possibly, I didn't look up the engine code before I posted the pictures...

I was just posting the pictures to show the missing "plate", so does the Villiers ignition have a "plate"?

Re: 170 Fuel Connector Replacement

I was always curious where the remote tank connected on the 170, just looked up a clip on YouTube and grabbed a screen shot, for anyone else who is not familiar with the model.

Re: 170 Fuel Connector Replacement

I can't give you an accurate answer, but just to point you in the direction of the main SOS website. http://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk/i_d_your_seagull/125_170_series.htm The engine was fitted with an Amal fuel pump and remote tank. (Though the tank connectors did not last and now they are replac...

Re: British Seagull Outboards (YouTube Clips)

Came across this clip on SOS homepage. Dear John Many years ago I decided to make a short film publicly funded by the Queensland Government in Australia. It was based loosely on my relationship with my father and our old seagull outboard motor. We had looked at your site many times together and I al...
