Re: 416 carby question

Thanks Charles, But what does the little passage in the casting at the side of the main jet do? On the 416 it is plain and on the 418 it has a brass insert.

Re: 416 carby question

So I am guessing the pilot jet on the 416 is the cast very narrow tube (no removable brass piece) to the side of the main / needle jet tube? I cut a knackered carb in half to try and see where the jet / air passages were but the pilot jet tube seemed to be blind ending .... I am guessing it turns si...

416 carby question

Do the holes on a 416 needle jet need to be lined up in a specific orientation on replacement post cleaning ...... and second dummy question ... is a needle jet and pilot jet the same thing ... if not where is the pilot jet on these carbs?

Re: Pumped Kingfisher connector leaking

The male connector actually seemed to be 1/4 BSPT and I could get a BSPT to NPT brass adapter but still needed to run a BSPT tap into alu block … anyhow got a tohatsu connector set and all now tickety boo with no leak. Will try it on a remote tank at weekend.

Re: Forty plus long shaft

Someone will have likely just swapped legs / exhaust/ waterpipe for a standard shaft … takes about 10 minutes!

Re: Pumped Kingfisher connector leaking

Does anyone know what this 'flat topped' on the male spigot is and whether there are any off the shelf replacements / whether it can be tapped to fit?

Re: Pumped Kingfisher connector leaking

I don't know as that is how it came but although it is not a tight fit, it does not seem far off the mark. Outside diameter of male spigot attached to motor is approx. 10.95mm and inside diameter of female is approx. 11mm so I think probably a match? I tried a female connector from a small tohatsu a...

Pumped Kingfisher connector leaking

The fuel connector (looks similar to the Suzuki type) on a Kingfisher I have acquired is leaking profusely! Is there any way to repair this? I assume the connectors are no longer available?

Re: Silver Century 75 stopping during run

Charles, Did all the mk4 ignitions not have this ability? From my small collection of motors switch from mk3 to mk4 seems to be around 1986??? I keep meaning to try and fit a stop button to one but have not got round to it.

Re: Which One?

And as per the top brochure shot, these late model 75 also had the rubber sleeve on the drive tube to connect with the FNR type bracket even though they had no reverse. These seem to do a good job of accelerating corrosion in behind them!!!!

Amal 416/ 1A

Question - Why does the gravity fed Osprey need a throttle valve stop adjuster screw? Why do the silver century / late 40 model amal carbs not use this and is the 416 / 1 otherwise identical and can the body be drilled and tapped to take one? (I have a 416/ 1A which looked bonny on the outside but i...
