Re: Porta-bote

They are common around cape cod for cruisers in the 17-22 foot category...too small to put the tender on deck.

Vastly superior to inflatables and that hassle. I tow a 10 foot skiff behind my 26, with the caveat that if I hit heavily seas I will have to cut the painter and buy a new one ....

R is made redundant by efficient boat handling, surely.

Indeed Kevin. On our side of the pond, where SUVs are common, the manufacturing carbon footprint can be 5x the tailpipe carbon load.

I'm dealing with a mucked up thread on the crankshaft of a 5 HP right now and it isn't fun. Made even less fun by the lack of sources of British die here on this side of the pond

...and most importantly have faith.

I have a Nissan 4 stroke engine that has had four baths - two in fresh, and two in salt water - going down 2 metres in depth the last time.

Each time a water rinse and an oil change and fresh petrol have resulting in a running motor.

Re: Britains greatest machines

Later on with the RR engine fitted the Americans adopted it as their primary fighter, but the engine was renamed as a Packard. In R-R it has always been known as a "Packard Merlin". One of the early mustang allison engines is dispalyed in the R-R museum in Derby. I wonder if the 'Packard'...

I have found 140 weight gear oil available in the States in the NAPA chain of automobile parts stores - special order, but available at reasonable price.

Re: Pics of Villiers and the Silver Century

Thanks Oyster...I had visions of someone mowing the lawn with a Seagull prop, which did make chuckle. Due to our world leading innovations of cheese in a can, and lawyers, incidentally, when you purchase a lawn mower in the States it isn't uncommon to read in the instructions "Do not use this m...

Adverts said "Mow on Saturday, Boating on Sunday"
I guess I could see that implementation, but would not the motor run warm after a while, due to no water???

Charles - let me see - ive lost count of the number of times they have tried to fix it, and failed. If this were an employee doing a job, I think they would have been fired by now.... :o :o :o I would take it to a new shop, get the car as I want it, then decide if I want to pursue a refund. Absolutely - use this as a money transfer service only...do not hold balances of any consequence. There are more phishing scams on paypal than anything else I use for business too, btw.

Hello fellow gullers - been away a while. Stephen here from across the pond.
