I believe this is a fourty plus (at least the prop says that) There are remnants of "gold" paint on the flywheel and was manufactured May 1973

"Add enough oil to cover large crown gear in gear assembly"
That's not very much oil....
Is there a quantity/capacity?

Re: Found it in the River...
There are plenty of repairs and upgrades to be done before this can be run on a lake....
Cleaned the yellow goo out of the gearbox. That crap was stubborn!
Everything looked healthy inside once done.
EP140 oil I believe I need to replace it with. Fill to the bottom of the fill hole?

Re: how to re-use copper headgasket?
Thanks for the feedback.
I'll get that done as one of the small jobs.
I have now got it running. Video in the thread "found it in the river"

Re: Found it in the River...
Not too sure what to tell you fellows, https://youtu.be/iTiDw3xpym0 Abandoned and left for dead in the Fraser River. Little bit of elbow grease was used to clean things up and a bit of silicone gasket maker. I just realized, I was going to put silicone gasket maker on the head gasket and I haven't d...

how to re-use copper headgasket?
Slap the headgasket in there and torque it down as is? goop it up with silicone gasket maker then slap it in as is? I saw one youtube video where the guy heat it up with a propane torch before reuse. (looks like it cooled before being placed) What would the purpose of that be? What prep to reuse the...

Re: Found it in the River...
Ummmm.....
This is the point in this thread that'll make most cringe...
That looks like a good enough gap right there.... (I don't have a feeler gauge yet)
"It's not just good, It's good enough"
Spun the flywheel by hand and got spark!

Re: Oops... Wrist pin
That was my logic in assembling with open end down as well...
Going back through the pictures from when I disassembled I noticed it was open end up.
Thought I would ask.
Thanks,

Oops... Wrist pin
The wist pin is a tube that is closed off at one end.
When I pulled the motor apart the closed side of the wrist pin was pointed to the exhaust port.
When I reassembled the open side was pointed to the exhaust port. (oops...)
Does it matter?

Re: Found it in the River...
It's pitted. It looks to be some chrome covered steel. That has occurred everywhere that wasn't covered by the bearing. It'll run on that alright, maybe not for very long, but it'll run... I'm thinking the bearing will get torn up by the roughness of it. I suppose I can find some really fine sandpap...
