Bermuda RISR 2025

I've just been informed that over 50 boats have signed up for The Bermuda RISR 2025, I'm sorry I won't be there this year.

Hope the Weather's good for them this year & the younger generation show the old timers how it should be done!

My Best Wishes !!

Re: GFP1036FF6 Forty Plus with Bing carb.

Your throttle cable is passing through the hole in the casting on the tiller arm base, this will damage the cable beyond repair!

That might be your problem.

Check what your plug gap is supposed to be, 30 thou is only used on the white Wypac CDI ignition.

Re: GFP1036FF6 Forty Plus with Bing carb.

Yes it does.
You'll notice the top screw has a domed end, that's fits in the dimple in the pinion bush & holds it in place at the correct height & keeps the pinion gear correctly meshed with the crown wheel on the prop shaft.

Re: Brass tank studs

Lay your Seagull down on the ground to see which is the most stable position that will cause the least damage!

Waikato Seagull Regatta 2025

I hate to say this but "I hope all you Kiwis have a great Easter on the Waikato!" the thing that's causing me the most distress is, I won't be there with you showing you how a Pomme would do it!

Have a great weekend gentlemen!

Re: Early 102 question

The oil that was used in the Wartime & pre War gear boxes was approximately SAE 450 a viscosity that no longer seems to be easily available.

It looks like the prop shaft/bearing is losing quite a lot of lubricant so there could be either badly worn bearings or too thin gearbox lubricant.

With a ...

Re: Early 102 question

The local man to talk to for you would be Chris Croul who lives in Beach Haven, not too far for you, his phone number I will PM to you when I've dug it out.
Please don't try to start with the drill again It doesn't do them any good when they're over 80 years old.

Re: International flight with a seagull..

At this point in time he doesn't have an outboard motor, only several packages containing outboard motor parts, fairly innocuous as long as the airline security can't smell petrol!
He could always email the Airline security & ask them, that way you'd get an answer in writing.
I have taken my race ...

Re: AMAL Carburettor Cowls

I think you'll find the Amal 416 carb, came into production use by British Seagull in the late 1980's.

So if you've got an AC with a 416 it's probably a repair, & if I remember right 416's were only fitted with the plastic choke shroud.

Re: gears seized

Is your Gearbox a sealed one?

Drain gearbox oil, remove prop, remove gearbox end cap, remove prop shaft.

Now your problem should be self explanatory.

Re: Spark plug and gap.

On a 1981 motor if it hasn't been fixed before, you would expect to find a flywheel that has no groove on the outer diameter,

this would imply your motor is fitted with a Mk 3 Wipac CDI (with white electronic components) these have a standard. plug gap of 35 thousands of an inch

If your flywheel ...
