Re: Caveat emptor No. 2

Hi H-A, I've got a surplus 1966 LLSL (Villiers carb) powerhead. Last storm it fell of a shelf and landed on the front mudguard of my restored BSA WM20. You can have this cursed piece of Seagull as I don't want it anymore on the shelf. I can bring it to Hayling Island if you can wait till May/June. D...

Re: SD restoration

I'm still waiting for the Hayling Island Marathon date :?:

LR is ready, a box full of used SD parts is ready to build a 'Salt Water SD' and I'm looking for a trailer or lightweight dinghy I can carry on the roofrack.

Re: SD restoration

As I can see on the photo the combination of two different crankcases looks ugly aside of the problems with the line boring. I've searched in the shed and I think this is the upper crankcase to match your lower crankcase I sended you. DSC03197.JPG I was stupid to send you only the lower part of the ...

Re: SD restoration

Ceandess in Wolverhampton reproduce caps for classic motorcycles.

They have 2 inch bayonet oil caps without the air bleed screw for RE motorcycles (I think).

I don't know if they fit on SD tanks and/or can be modified with an air bleed screw.

Re: Proposed Seagull Marathon early next summer 2011 May/June

Hi H-A, I don't complain about a frozen test tank like Charles. I've to deal with a frozen starter cord, fuel tap, filler cap and carburator. I can't even turn the flywheel. DSC03000.JPG As long I keep my WWII explosion proof cast iron heater (removed from a German bunker of the Atlantic Wall in 194...

Re: Proposed Seagull Marathon early next summer 2011 May/June

If I can find a suitable boat trailer and the ferry rates are acceptable I’ll take my ‘Schippersvlet’ to the ‘Hayling Island Marathon’. DSC03118.JPG It’s a traditional steel with rivets build dinghy used as an auxiliary dinghy for Dutch Barges from the 1930’s to the 1970’s. DSC03114.JPG During the E...

Re: SD restoration

Hi Hugo,

Need some time to make a list of the surplus SD parts I have. It's not a Winter job in an unheated shed.
As soon the list is finished I will PM you.

Re: SD restoration

It's better and cheaper to find a SD parts engine. They are often for sale on the web. If you can't find one I can supply a (used) SD crankcase. I've also a large stock of other new (NOS) and used SD/102 parts. Piston rings, gudgeon pins, bolts, gaskets, exhaust clamps, tiller arm studs (steel and b...

Re: SD restoration

The slim long Amal lever is correct for SD and early postwar 102's. This type of levers are scarce.

Re: WW2 SD Seagull

Most of the wartime Seagulls (SD’s) I’ve seen in Holland are supplied with a heavy (5,5 Kg.) bronze bracket. DSC03024.JPG DSC03023.JPG There is a bronze depth adjusting collar and a modified carb ring clip to prevent the bracket sliding down the drive shaft when you lift the engine of the transom. D...
