Re: Gear oil

Sorry for the late reply. It has been a while, and I have thrown out my old oil containers. I usually just get Shell or Castrol 90 gear oil. What ever is on sale at the time. A 4 litre pack lasts me a fair while.

Re: Gear oil

Hi, I think I will stick to 90 oil, as I haven't had much of an issue , with oil loss. I don't use my motors that much, but after a few hours use over 3 or 4 days, the oil is thick and well emulsified. Usually after a few days at home, I will drain it out, and refill with clean oil. I have yet to se...

Re: Time for the Riptide.

Hi all, Sorry for the late reply, but I lost internet for a week, due to server problems. I think the Tank may have been changed, but have also wondered if there was a Long Range Tank available, as the style is about right, and with a couple of small brackets made, it should fit. The throttle advanc...

Re: Time for the Riptide.

I also have a couple of Riptides. One day soon I hope to get them going. One of them has a fuel tank that seems to be correct, but is not. I don't know if there is a bracket missing or what.
I'm sure somebody will be able to advise me,
Cheers.

Re: Gear oil

I recently purchased a grubby old 102. Previous owner informed me that he had run the engine a couple of years ago. Before starting it, he had checked it over, changed the gearbox oil, using Penrite gear oil, and ran the engine in water, to make sure all was working. The motor was then put back in t...

Hi Grumpy,
I like your way of sorting out problems. You will go a long way in life.
I could say lots more, but as an ex Kiwi, I will say no more.

Re: Kinuta Outboard

Thanks for the info.
There must be somebody that has one. It must be reasonably early as it has a brass prop that looks like it belongs there. Most of the ignition is missing except for a set of points.
It is quite heavy, compared with a Riptide, but still a very interesting outboard.
Cheers,
Mark

Kinuta Outboard

Hi All, I recently purchased a Kinuta Outboard. It is an opposed twin, and I guess about 5hp. I think its from about 1940?. I havent been able to find out much at all about this. I assume collector inspector probably has a couple? It has no ignition, so I will have to adapt something I guess....

Re: WSPC Petrol Tank

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies. If it came with a steel tank, then I will leave it alone, as it looks to be very good, with only minimal corrosion inside. There are no dents, which is a bonus.
Cheers,
Mark

WSPC Petrol Tank

Hi All, I recently purchased a WSPC series Seagull. It dates to August 1977. It has a Steel petrol tank. I thought it should have a Brass Tank!. The motor is in very good origonal condition, and seems to have been well looked after. There are no decals on the Tank, and I cant see the remains of any. ...
