Hi and thanks for the replies. looked at the direct drive gearbox I'm waiting for parts to rebuild and saw the thrust washer behind the crown wheel and measured its thickness which was 2.14 mm and thought oh well I'll take the end cap off the SJP gearbox and see what the difference is, BIG DIFERENCE ...

Hi and thanks for the feedback on the gearbox issue. In the attached photo you can see the almighty gap between shaft and bush and the flogged out teeth on the gear, she's had it. Whoops electric wasn't in that last post( wrong photo ) This is the 1956 model ( found out thanks to SOS) SJP 40 + only had it for 2 weeks. Have run it in a tank pumps water and leaks heaps of fuel from a dodgy fuel tap but I can live with that for now. Hope to get a chance to put it on the tinny ...
