Re: Forum tips and tricks

I am sure Smilies work on other machines but not on mine. I have them enabled and can see yours, right now I can see them smiling at me to the right but pressing them has no affect look: See? :-) It actually reports 'Error on page' in the IE message bar at the bottom left so I don't doubt it is the ...

Re: Kingfisher fuel problem

Haven't come across this I'm afraid, but certainly a strip down just to machine a hole seems a little drastic. My first thought is to ask if its possible to mount the external tank higher on the boat so it is level with the motors tank so it gravity feeds and you don't need a pump? ( put a packing c...

Re: Forum tips and tricks

Just a little teensy weensy bijou problemette I have found that the smilies dont work. Note: that I am at work and forced to use antiquated IE6 so its probably that. I guess I could put the tags in the text directly ( if I knew them ) but pressing the actual smily buttons has no affect.

Re: the Thames mini 'Gull Rally

TRW: My 40+ is frequently at full bore up at Hullbridge if I am loaded or the wind is strong ( I am referring to my inflatable and the conditions, not me ) still if we are that slow we can pick up a pint at the Anchor in Hullbridge on the way, probably won't need to stop ...... Liquid mud? um .........

Re: Quick Intro

I'm tempted to ask why you have been in a garage for 35yrs, but if you can resurrect too I guess anything is possible.

Seriously, welcome to the forum and hope all goes well for the launch! look forward to pics

Steven, My 90 behaves much the same as yours, will stay in gear OK but will jump out when stopped in gear which seems to agree with Rick, don't think it should jump out while driving though. If it does I would first check the linkage and pivot bolt to make sure it is fully engaging the gear. I have ...

This sounds SO much like my 40+ when I first got it, traced it to a loose ignition backplate that was putting the timing out, sometimes the timing was near enough for the old dear to start, then it would go out while running usually at the worst possible moment with loads of people watching! Make su...

Specifications show the 40+ should use about 1.7 pints per hour at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle so with the standard 4 pint tank you should get around 2 hours, mine certainly gets about this and has to work hard for a living frequently at full chat. Suggest you look for fuel leaks, pay particular attention t...

Seem to have forgotten the head gasket here, if water is leaking out of the head gasket then I would say that yes it is on the way out and will need sorting, it is unlikely to run correctly in that condition, water getting into the cylinder will no doubt cause misfiring of some kind or another. Make...

I'm thinking the vinyl LP centre label that 'Vertigo' records used back in the Black Sabbath days would be great but I think the motors rev too high to get the full effect :(

What size prop would you need to get enough power from 33 rpm? :?

Beleive me, it has already heard all the Anglo Saxon words I know! As this is a 1988 Model 90 it doesn't have points ( does it? ) Not sure if it has Mk 3 or Mk 4 ignition, have to check the flywheel when I strip it, thats why I wondered if the fuel has dissolved something? I would have hoped t...

OK, the continuing story. Swapped motors and the patient is now at home standing in the corner, I've told it to have a jolly good think about its behaviour and deliberately stood the old faithful 40+ next to it so hopefully it will get jealous as it sees me keep going out with that! ( I do think psy...

Oh dear! well its gone from a 90, to a 45 and now to a zero!! Got to the boat Saturday armed with new plug and a metal fuel tap and the said 90 wouldn't start at all! Fitted new plug, nothing. tried changing plug gap ( unsure if I have mk 3 or mk 4 ignition at the moment, its a 1988 model but I have...

In my case I have the 40+ but am wondering how much lighter a featherweight would be and if I would notice the power drop :) Matt you may find the cable just needs lubricating? you can either get a pneumatic cable oiler or just disconnect one end or t'other and tie it to something so it hangs vertic...
