Re: New to gulls looking for advice.

Lots of things missing or wrong but nothing that cannot be sorted. I love the 102's. Easiest of all seagulls to get working again , and yes - ditch the recoil. I would first get shot of the recoil starter, it would look a lot better for it, they are normally fitted by pensioners or the criminally in...

Re: 102 vs century

You need a brass inlet trumpet -- looks better and makes for easier "choking".

Re: Blowing out of Carburettor

I would suggest new rings. A compression test might show the problem.

Re: 102 vs century

Press the tickler to run fuel through the carb. Cover the intake and give a pull or two with the cord to draw fuel into the barrel . then start as normal with a hand on the tank.
If it starts use a hand as the choke to keep it running. It takes a little practice but is good fun. !!!!!

Re: Can't get started

I give mine a squirt of quick start if I have any problems. At least I know if it sparks enough. Only runs for seconds.

Re: Wow, Seagulls are tough! And I'm Stupid!

Brilliant topic. I have to say I am not a fan of steel tanks. The smaller brass tanks look better even if it means a bit more refilling.
The background is nice though. How far away is the nearest McDonalds - ours is 140 miles away --- thankfully.

Re: Seagull stuff in Scotland

Not much on the west - you could try Johnston Bros located in Mallaig . A few more on the east ie Inverness but none stock seagull bits that I know of.
Skye is nice but no chandlers. You could always ask some of the locals. I can offer you a trip in my wee boat if you have the time.

Kinsale in September

I have just booked a holiday in Kinsale in September. Have any of our members fished this area ? Sadly not taking my boat , so it is fishing from the shore. I will have harbour one side of the cottage and a sandy beach the other plus a fort (rocky) to the north. I may be able to hire a small boat fr...
