Saving Old Seagulls

Argh ! dont cut it, just remove that plate so the motor can tilt up.

I did the same thing nearly 15 years ago with 2 sheets of 8' x 4' plywood.

Were the stator plates used on other (non Seagull) motors ?

Just a question ...

Does the thrust change (at WOT) from when the boat is tied to a bollard to when the boat is moving a maximum hull speed ?

One plus of putting a Seagull together from a box of parts is that the tiller can now turn almost 90 degrees to the transom - my boat can now spin in her own length .... works well with a 40+, the C100 just cavitates !

I suppose it was a bit confusing for a few, but after a Piña Colada (or two) who could tell where anything was going !

I was fascinated watching a cruise liner spin (bow and stern thrusters and twin drive pods) in its own length in Milford Sound, all the while showing the forward view on the wide screen.

I did that with a spare Silver Century block, then to a C100 block. The only advantage is that it gives extra access to the water gallery for cleaning.

Enough for me ... its probably around 2pm (yesterday) in Greece, and 8pm (today) in Western Oz .... but its 11pm here, time for bed.

I suppose if the inside dia. is as large as possible (as it looks like you have done), then there might be some benefit. On the other hand I found the greatest amount of sound comes from the open intake. If you are happy about drilling holes in a block, why not pair the two holes underneath, drill a...

... In my cylinder I will add 15cm pipe which is OK to spray some water in the exhaust....


That's exactly what I've done with a C100 ... did not change the sound, did not affect the normal water outlet flow. The ID of the pipe is 2.5mm, so I may be a bit small to have any effect.

Ah! I see. What is the length and inside dia. of the 'water spray' pipe ?
I assume Seagull knew what they were doing .... is there a risk of water ingestion through the exhaust port ?
I'm thinking salt water effect on the cylinder.
