Keith,
I think the flywheel on your motor is correct for the time period.
Can you find any date stamp on the flywheel?
The magneto base plate must be different comparing a SD Villiers magneto and a MK I magneto.
I've got the same ignition set up on a 1947 AC model.

Re: Another motor
Hi Keith, I think you did a good buy.
What's the serial number? Must be a 1946 model.
Is the bakelite sparkplug cap an original KLG?
More pics?

Re: The best way to get back home
My house floats in the test tank.
Nice FV Stellios, don't forget to turn the gearbox end cap 180 degrees.
The FV is the nicest small Seagull outboard and one of my favorites.

Re: Dating a seagull by sight
Regarding my collection I think: Flat to round exhaust flange around 1948-49. Coolie hat ignition to the flat Villiers flywheel around 1946-47. After the coolie hat Villiers ignition they fitted a different type of Villiers ignition for a few years. Not a MK1 Villiers ignition but a sort of pre MK1 ...

Re: Little Forty F341
Hi Jeremy, F341 had an original paper cylinder base gasket but the head gasket was a non original thick and sticky mess of kit, sealant, asbestos and paper. I must find some material I can use as head gasket. They fitted the later plastic and larger model 40 impeller so I need also the small bronze ...

Re: Little Forty F341
Thanks for the offer Oyster but I prefer the standard FV type gearbox on F341.
One day I will find one or I buy a parts motor.
I know it will be a long term restoration.

Re: Little Forty F341
Today I welded, machined and finished the cylinder head. P4150106.JPG Everything fits together perfectly. Now I have to make the base and head gasket. I think the base gasket of the F model was made of paper but I don't know the material used for the head gasket. P4150119.JPG The gearbox is beyond r...

Re: Little Forty F341
Keith, Pin for tiller is fitted horizontal on my F model. I will weld the tank mountings back on the head, I did it before on my FVP. Stelios, Studs are 1/4. Crankcases, cylinder, piston and head are different on a F model. Oyster 49, Thanks for the offer but a FVP head will not fit on a 40cc F mode...

Re: Little Forty F341
A F341 update. The flywheel was wobbling so I replaced it by a period correct flywheel from the shed. The coil was dead so I also replaced it by an old coil in working condition. The late style Villiers throttle lever is replaced by a slim long SD style Amal lever, is this correct for the early Litt...

Re: original parts on sjp
Some pics of SJP 21350 I took from the local waste disposal site a few years ago. It was still in the original shipping crate and I think it was never used and/or they never changed parts. Unfortunately the crate was badly damage by woodworms. Your SJP is 1 or 2 years younger but I think you can use...
