Re: Not Seagull but I think worth a read.
Thanks for sharing that. Interesting read. I took the family to a Rc Plane event a couple of weeks ago and seen this scale Rc catalina on display. It was the pride of the event. Its got a 16.50 ft wing span, We didnt get to see it fly because the rain came down and the whole event was a washout. It ...

Re: Transom saver
That bracket that you have posted up as an extention will cause more harm than good without using a transom support bracket. What it will do (From a physics point of view) is create more of a leverage and almost double the weight effect. Once its traveling along going over bumps and humps your going...

Re: Dam I hate being right.
Ive raced ski-boats for 15yrs using mercury outboards with an output of 260 to 280 HP. But now that im married with 3 boys and a mortgage. The ski-boat was no longer my baby and had to go. Having said all of that, Mercury marine has most of there parts made from all 3rd world parts of the globe. And...

Re: Molassas and spark plug Question
I will try vinegar. Yes o know what ya mean about how it will amit bubbles. (bit like a glass of beer) That plug you showed has come up like new and very original. Looks like the only way to preserve them is to wrap them up in an oily cloth,

Re: Molassas and spark plug Question
Ive soaked a plug for 12hours and this is the end result. The one on the left is sought of new with no rust on it. The one on the right has been soaked in molassas after being on the wire wheel. The darkness would be the mixture and has left a micro film on there which would act as a preservative i ...

Re: Molassas and spark plug Question
What i thought it does is to not only remove rust. But to give the surface some sought of protective coating (like a preservative) so it dont rust again

Re: Pistons-Rods-Cranks-Crankcases.
So out of the 2 rods ive posted up, The seagull 2 (single beam) would be the best to use. Im after reliability thats all. The taller bearing crankcases would be the best to use then.

Nice Motor. Tank looks in great nick. All the chrome seems intact. Should clean up very well indeed. You will have one of the best little forties in original condition.

Re: Pistons-Rods-Cranks-Crankcases.
Ive have notoiced that some of the upper crankcases have a larger port area than others. The pic shows the difference in size. Is this the tranfer port.
Ps" The one on the left is a LLs and the right is a W.

Re: FV/FVP Carb Body.
Wouldn't that be because the 40 series is 64cc 11.20mm carb and the LLS is 102cc 13mm carb and higher HP. Like the FVP/FV have restricted carbs as they are 64cc like the 40 series, but less HP than the standard 40. That would be wright Kieth. I was always under the impression both 40 and 100 series...
