Re: New Seagull owner

Lets be honest, apart from a select few, most people don't care a monkeys about these motors hence you can pick one up for less than the price of a hair drier, and it does not have to be a particularly good hair drier

Re: New Seagull owner

My favourite rebuilds almost always started as a seized, no hope sort of project, I guess that is where the satisfaction is. A word of warning, Beware if you place a "wanted seagull outboard" advert and you are the sort of person that cannot say No, I did last year........nearly upto 90 at...

Re: Another Interesting Find

Funny enough I too have very recently been told "I don't think you need any more motors" shortly followed by "Stop Buying Motors"

All I said was that I'll do my best, we'll see

Re: Another Interesting Find

I think the trick of acquiring something a bit unusual like a marston is not necessarily just looking on eBay with so many people bidding against each other the price becomes over inflated and unrealistic and for what? The old fashioned method works better probably due to the old fashioned type of p...

Re: Another Interesting Find

It's nice that it's running, the man who sold it to me, Donald, knew what he had because when he first mentioned about the seagulls he said he had two early gulls an ON and an SD as well as a couple of silver century's he also said that if he could not get them running I could have them all for £50 ...

Re: Very Interesting Find

I always thought that the "barn Find" was a myth as nobody I know has ever found anything of great rarity by chance. The crazy thing was that he was sure he had another, we spent quite a bit of time looking through piles of oddments as high as the sealing and then those dreadful words as h...

Re: Chrysler 3.6

AAHHH, Chrysler  I once had a Chrysler 3.6hp on my tender, a Chrysler 55hp main motor with a Chrysler 7.5hp aux. the 3.6 was so unreliable I rowed the tender most of the time, if the 55hp would start then at least I'll have half a day out until it either broke down (usually ignition), stopped c...
