Re: Can someone tell me?

70 euros = ~63 British Pounds 70 euros = ~$101 Australian Dollars It depends... what would you use it for if you were to purchase it? For a running motor for your boat or for parts? Not sure if my eyes are playing tricks but to me that gearbox looks a bit small... from a 40 maybe? It's got a Wipac i...

Re: and now for something completely different!

Jon You mention that you're leaning toward using a 40+ clutched box on this motor. If your son is looking for more speed, it may be an idea to use a different gearbox. I'm not an expert on gear ratios etc. myself but I do know that there are some gearboxes that will perform better than others in spe...

Re: Spot the problems

Jon,

Recently here down under I came across a July 1968 102 motor for sale which had the 3-bladed cloverleaf prop fitted. According to the owner, it is exactly original...

Re: Spot the problems

by headdownarseup I'd be interested to know when you note the change in the 40 series gearboxes from a "holed" water inlet to a slotted" inlet. My best guess is around 57. Am I close? Jon, From my data collection, it seems that SJP and SJM motors under serial #10,000 have the holed w...

Re: Spot the problems

by headdownarseup The tiller actually appears to be correct for this motor. As does the grip and throttle lever (despite being at a weird angle) Most, if not all of the T series 102's i have on record to date have this type of tiller arrangement so there's nothing too out of the ordinary here. Jon,...

Re: Spot the problems

I think the seller may have misread/misinterpreted what is on SOS with regards to the text on the rope sheave...  According to my SJP & SJM data, the plastic fuel cap came on motors post-1960ish, so I would hazard a guess that the fuel cap is wrong... fuel petcock isn't original as s...

Re: Seagull Rowboat-Motor

by JERSEYMAN As if the naked flywheel is not precarious enough you now want to turn it into a blender, no doubt it would work and also one piece of kit less to carry I guess but if it worked well, all small outboards would have a knob or two, the fact that this has not been seen since the 1920's mu...

Seagull Rowboat-Motor

Hi all This strange idea had been floating around in my head for a while now... I was thinking if it may be possible to 'transform' a Seagull into an Evinrude Rowboat-Motor-esque machine, with a knob-start mechanism, maybe a different magneto set-up, flywheel etc. I intend to fit a knob-start mechan...

Re: My first Seagulls

Hi all After a great weekend, another Mandurah Boat Show has concluded. We had 18 outboards in total on display, and had literally hundreds of people come up and say, "I had a Seagull like that when I was young" or "I remember the good old Seagulls"! A number of outboard motors w...

Re: My first Seagulls

Hi S

We have 18 motors on display with a number of seagulls included. Today was the setup day and I took some pics.

A roster is being used, with the day's divvied up between the six of us who can help out.

Cheers

Re: My first Seagulls

Hi all It's been a long time since I did any work on my first seagulls. SJP654H5 found another home at the start of this year but I am now on the pathway to getting it back along with another SJP for my collection. Anyway, this coming weekend, us here in West Oz have the annual Mandurah Boat Show. O...
