Re: Identify the stamp on the skeg of SD102??

20221120_074354.jpg On SD 125. If l recall the navy being the first service ie navy, army, airforce was allowed to have the crown emblem. This emblem is also seen on drinking vessels which also could signify navy to measure a tot of rum. So this may well signify that it was stamped by a navy stores...

Re: SD2380.13.

SD2380 L3. The first lot of SD's were the P3 and second lot was the L3. And the last lot were the L4. Your is at the beginning of the the L3 range. Probably about 1943. You should have cast tank mounts, plain clutch lever and nipples on port side of box. The stamp on the skegg CIESS stands for Chief...

Found on a BSA site: Petrol Tank Cleaning and De-Rusting Les Howard recommends a four stage process for stripping, cleaning, de-rusting and drying the petrol tank on your classic motorcycle. Appropriate clothing should be worn... One o...

Re: My SD

Lovely! Can l add SD685 to the SD registry? If so may l have the magneto JM # and if the clutch lever is plain with no inscription. Also these early ones had a B number B#### on other side of crankcase from engine number. Love the early P3's!

Re: Mounting bracket

Skeletal first appeared on the C and D. There is the 'Dutch' brass bracket, date and origin unknown and the SD side mount bracket for WW2 pontoons. Skeletal may have been included in sales from post war surplus retailers. Plenty of the side mount drive shaft fixture fittings left on SD's but only ab...

I've only ever seen mild steel bolts holding the G clamps to the body.
