Re: dome nut
102 cc Seagulls will run down to about 45 lbs compression.
Bear in mind compression gauges are not scientific instruments so if yours reads 40lbs don't despair just start it, if it starts on easystart it will run on petrol, just remember easystart has no oil in it.

Re: dome nut
Clean the entire fuel system, fuel tank, fuel tap, fuel pipe, carb, after everything is spotless blow it out with an air line. The cordless drill is a last chance remedy, do not use until you've tried everything else, cleaned & set points, renewed plug lead & plug & ensured that fuel is ...

Re: Intermittant pumping of water...
That's right Graham & how can it possibly get there? Split in the water delivery pipe, Lose water pipe retaining nut, Loose fit of water delivery pipe in water pump housing, Crack in water jacket around exhaust port. All this means splitting the engine from the leg & removing exhaust tube fo...

Re: Intermittant pumping of water...
I think your going to have to strip the exhaust system it sounds like you have a problem with the water delivery tube inside the exhaust tube.
The water delivery tube has been known to split on rare occasions due to vibration.

Re: Drive shaft tubes
Aalco can get 28mm 316 stainless 2mm wall at over £50 per meter min order 6 meters, so why would you bother. To replace the tube you'd be faced with the cost of boring out the motor mount casting, braizing in the stainless replacement & hope that the pinch bolt will squeeze up the extra 23 thou ...

Re: Featherweight box to 102
Nice bit of work Rob on the diameter change.
Which prop are you using?
Seagull's own figures show that the longshaft version of a motor produces 2% more power than the short, thats why we don't reduce the exhaust volume.
There are no bolt on performance parts for any of the Seagull powerheads.

Re: Essex Flocking of Seagulls!
Thanks for the kind offer Rob I think I'm just about allright for props.
This is not counting probably all the rest of my motors that are wearing their props, well all except 1!
The only one I'm aware that I don't have is the 13 inch 4 blade 102 + Barge pusher.

Re: Engine runs great - Prop not turning
I think you might find on inspection inside the gearbox that the clutch dog is spinning on the prop shaft as it's broken the shear/retaining pin that holds it, so RBT is right it doesn't have one, "now". The oil in this gear box should be EP 90. This is what can happen if the revs are too ...
