Re: 102 ?

If it has a finned head then, it has a Marston head fitted.

Re: Black thrust blocks

They are normally seen painted silver, seen a handful of them in the past, maybe a 3d printer job.

Re: 1951 Little Forty FVP7383 manual or parts diagram

I do agree with Jeremy, break anything on the FVP and you may have problems, as parts are getting very hard to find. The LS is also a nice motor, I myself wouldn't class it as a Little forty, rather a Super Forty, even though the engine identifier says it is, internally it has a later type crank or ...

Re: 1951 Little Forty FVP7383 manual or parts diagram

The date of production came from John's engine identifier as 1951 - 52. I haven't gone down the lists to pinpoint it more precisely yet.
I didn't realise they made so many, about 8,000 a year.

Re: 1951 Little Forty FVP7383 manual or parts diagram

Very limited paperwork has been found on this motor, the motor is well known about and the production variations that continued.
Later carburettor fitted, or just later covers, I don't think it's 1951 either.
You just need to ask the question.

Re: headbolts on s.century

A copper gasket can be re-used if its in good condition, just anneal it and re-use.
Gearbox bolt sound right.
Yes, you can use the original head bolts.
What HP a seagull is quoted to be, is not necessary that HP it actually has.
I don't know about gearbox specs, try it and see.

Re: Fuel filters

They do not restrict the flow, but as a seagull comes with two filters already, I have never seen the point.

No, never seen a Pilot with a recoil starter, it's most probably a SeaBee or something, is it blue?

Re: FVP5959

I could give a 102 a run for its money with my FVP, Charles can contest to that, it was on a seagull outing some years ago and I think Charles was on tow again that time.
As Jeremy has stated in the past, some motors are better than others, give them a try you maybe surprised.

Re: FVP5959

Can you make the fuel pipes for these?
If you have the tools, then yes you could make one, I would say it will be the pigs ear style one.

Re: Thank you John

Welcome, so you need something different than the SJP you have, I use a 2.6m inflatable and can only run short shaft motors on it and use my little forty 1.5hp up to a 5.5hp Evinrude. Some motors are more desirable than others, but they are not exactly that hard to fix, so a project motor can someti...

Blocks are not that hard to find, hopefully it can get put right, just a fuel pipe and grip, it will be good as new again.

They were commercially exported to Oz.
So they must be very common in Oz then, so why are you even talking about it. How many do you own then Bruce, that you didn't import your self that is.
