Re: Sea Slug

Hi pulled down the motor to see what is wrong and surprisingly enough everything came apart easily. motor.jpg Then hang on a minute  everything is moving freely - in exhaust.jpg and out fire.jpg . Whoops started at the wrong end. Anyhow, I then grab the gearbox and find it is the problem not ...

Re: Sea Slug

Hi Nudge, the motor does rotate but there is a clunking sound coming from the motor. I suppose seize was the wrong choice of words on my part sorry. When I got home I washed it down and reverse flushed it with the garden hose and water flowed easily. When I rotate it by hand it will do a rotation an...

sea slug

Sorry I forgot ( to many beers maybe?) to add, more photos to follow as I will need all the help I can get fixing a seized motor. This will be the first time for me  looking forward to your advice.

Re: My first Seagulls

Hi all I have been reading the post and it looks like the AOMCI is an interesting group to be associated with can anyone tell me if there is such a group in QLD AUS that I might have a chance of becoming associated with?

Re: Silly question?

Hi again I'm glad I called this thread Silly Question cause here comes another one! I noticed this stamp on the 102 and was just wondering why it was there? The bottom of the crankcase has the engine number and on the top half of the crankcase SD is stamped under what must be timing marks. There pro...

Re: Silly question?

Hi all I have another question, this one regarding cleaning the inside of the fuel tank on the 102. Had a look and she is green as inside. I'd rather not use stuff that is to strong like I've seen on the net and I don't want to fill it with gravel and shake it around like I've also seen  . An...

Re: Silly question?

Hi Jon how are you? I've sent the engine number for your records. I am fairly new at all the seagull so I thought I'd add a photo of the gearbox and rear cover matching serial numbers. I don't know if this is common or not but it just took my interest seeing matching numbers. Cheers Bob 20160919_165...

Re: Silly question?

Thanks for the info Charles I followed your description of what to do and when re-assembled without the rear cover gasket the gears feel smooth and the play on the prop shaft measured 5.6 mm to 6.2 mm between gearbox housing and rear of prop which has all been cleaned so 0.6 of a mill + 0.4 mm gaske...

Re: Silly question?

Thanks BP. When I bought it this morning old mate says "She is a bit hard to turn over you know and I never figured out why". Anyhow first thing I did was drop the gearbox off and everything turned fine thought better have a look inside and this was the contents of the gearbox  no w...

Re: Silly question?

Picked up the 102 this morning. Pulled it out of the box for a look at his place and it all looks original as far I know anyway. Old fella I got it from reckons it hasn't run since the 80s, this will be fun  . Can't do anymore today as I have to go to an Orchid show with the misses ( which I re...

Re: Silly question?

Hi Jon
It would be a good project to redo the prop but I can't access the tools to do it. Anyway on a brighter note I'm going to look at a 102 this weekend that's in the original box apparently and hasn't been started for a very long time. I'll update the data for you when I know more.

Re: Silly question?

Thanks for your information Jon it has sorted out what I have been wondering for a while. The prop is a clover leaf and appears to be the same dimensions as the cloverleaf prop I have with 40 plus written on it. The issue must be the centre bush has been worn as it is a sloppy fit on the shaft and w...
