Re: beautiful sunny sunday

Yes, that's me. You are too kind about my little works and make me blush. Actually I should care better of the aesthetic side as painting and cleaning. Among the good things of owning a boat there are not only sailing her but also planning, designing and making all the changes which one thinks bette...

Re: beautiful sunny sunday

Grazie Chris. Ricambio gli auguri a Te e alla tua famiglia.

For what I can see your Italian is super.
It's the subject that makes me unsure of expressing my thoughts. When it is matter of cylinders or carburettors or rigging I am much more relaxed.

All the best

beautiful sunny sunday

I was typing the draft of a replay to this thread when I noticed that the whole thread has disappeared. The following is the text of my supposed post. “The reasons of Chris are highly wise. I shall follow his suggested way and keep on seeing this forum, of course avoiding reading posts we now know b...

Re: FV3048 - Overboard!

Non Seagull. When i was about ten (more than 70 years ago) our Johnson 5 hp (Seahorse was the model name) jumped ship in a lake in about three metre of water. I don't remeber the season, anyway my Father undressed, dived and recovered it. I can't remember the after immersion treatement but we kept o...

Re: Seagulls, Life and everything else.

I am slightly optimist: my four male greatchildren (12 to 18) like to repair or modifie motor and push bikes, often doing unnecessary damage but always learning something. I agree not all teenagers are like minded. We 'll see. Sometime I wonder what will be of all my old gear, wheeled or propellored...

Re: Fuel Cap Seal

I am a fan of cork as a material, for oil, petrol, wine, whisky, grappa etc. As suggested by John S.O.S., there is a way to rejuvenate fuel tap cork seals: when they are dry and hard, boiling them in water makes them inflate and become soft. I think this can apply also to cap seals. One more tip - a...

As we are in bike mood, this is my Guzzi Galletto [= young cock] 192 c.c. born in 1954, that I thoroughly restored about ten years ago and currently use.

Re: Hi from Glenmallan!

Nice to hear from you again Stelios! How are you doing? How are the balcony Seagulls? I was in Scotland last summer as a tourist, in a company unfortunately not very boaty. I only managed to drag them to visit a Light House museum and the Falkirk wheel. I know from experience that it is difficult to...

Re: Knots versus mph/kph

In this Country Nautical Miles and Knots are used for any and every distance and/or speed at sea, and to me this is correct for the reasons said by Hugh. On inland waterways instead Kilometers are used. About mechanical measures, metrical system is unbeatable for the simplicity of reckoning. I am am...
