Miniature Engine Display

Post by Collector Inspector »

Just thinking that there must be many ways of mounting said collectables for a display cabinet or similar.

As I said last post, I have a LOT of them and it is time to get them out of cardboard boxes in a cupboard and out for dusting if not in a cabinet.

Aircraft engines, marine engines both outboard and inboard, large and small. Some with Propellers and some without.

Attached some stuff as ideas from the net.

Open to any easy Ideas aye?

I have a car motor that I converted for marine use and an OS motor still on a plane, the old 6ch tamiya rc was dumped, after the last shed clean out, I do have a nice old hedge cutter, would that count, it is a ohlsson and rice.

I have seen the prices on some of these outboards, even the electric ones, which makes them, as you say, ornaments.

Can't beat small miniature outboard stands for the outboards. Number of choices available via eBay USA.

Aircraft engines (and outboard variations thereof) more difficult to deal with. Small wooden blocks or miniature (home made) transoms, may be the way to go.

Interesting book collection Charles. Do the secret of racing seagulls lie within those sacred tomes?

Hugo, there's more on those shelves, if your going to study something, you have to do the job properly & if that involves reading every book you can find about the subject, then that's what you have to do!

If anyone can recommend any publications on two stroke performance tuning, please let me know.

Charles, I did find a good book, but you being so experienced at this, you could probably write your own book by now.

They started off as a piece of stainless sheet, 42 x 165 x 0.9 mm (20 gauge) with 2 slivers of English oak 42 x 28.5 x 2.8 mm epoxied on to provide a cushion for the transom bracket, it takes longer to de burr them than anything else.

They work for everything apart from the Sea Fury through the hull, & might not be quite man enough for a big Fuji.
