Post by Horsley-Anarak »

Just won my new race engine (fingers crossed looks good).

Sorry bidder 2 If you are on the forum.

At least this one is a runner  so he says.

Anyone want to guess the type ID.

I think it might be a THCL.

Nothing that an angle grinder won't put right.

Thanks

Its not a Plus, and you will be grateful for that. It was a WHC Plus powering me at Lerryn because my main motor was being petulant. I probably approached nearly 1.5knots.

No, I think a TC.

I know three.

Not really a race meet.

Sadly there is no actual Register of us Down Under Gullers or, for that fact, no actual register of "Old Dear Owners" period!

Now how can we rectify that I wonder?

Would be rather Cool to have an annual smoky event on the Swan River with all sorts of things strutting their stuff and annoying recreational boaters and bringing some income to the City Of Perth Council as a result.

Maybe something can be organised thru the Wooden Boat Club Australia?

Yeh, Hang in there for that...Last meet in Perth was kinda flop...........

It is a runner, TCL 914E3 (what year is this?)
Good overall condition runs very well started second pull even with horrible stinking stale fuel.

Will cut it down to standard shaft length, total strip and clean.

What should the water pipe from the block to the exhaust be on a TC?

On my AC it is nickel plated copper.

No, reinforced petrol pipe is quite correct on the TC.

Told you it was a TC - what do I win?. .

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings the water return pipe should chromed copper on those, I think the nickel stopped after the ACs.

Did they have reinforced air hose in 1960.

I don't think of anything other than copper with various surface finishes was used for the water return.

On a 1963 TC the water outlet pipe is a hard plastic hose 5/16 (8mm) outer diameter. Like the pneumatic hoses on machinery. The chromed connections/nuts on the picture are right the reinforced hose not.

Flat exhaust 'D' with skeletal clamp will be no match for my new super fast hull design. Now lets see your skiff is about 19.5 foot and must be quite heavy (can you let know the weight, sorry displacement as I will need to enter this into my hull design calculations) New hull model MK3a (design revision 8) is meeting with approval from the inner sanctum, am looking at between 21 and 25 foot length, super sleek Bermuda style.
Water tank trials will be starting shortly with 1/8th scale model. (will post pictures)
TC with the L cut off (that is about 6 inches) is progressing well, all in bits (only picked it up yesterday). New rings fitted, big end bearing adjusted, de-coked, carb fully cleaned. Have spotted various areas that will be gas flowed, not sure if matching cut out in crankcase half to that of transfer port in cylinder will make it run better or worse, has anyone done this?

Am getting cooling water up the drive leg as there is a bearing missing! Whoever did the last service missed that one!
Am sure engine has not done much work main bearing look good and you can still see most of the machining marks in the bore.

Looks like the TC(minus the L) will make it to the Thames Race!

You'd only fill it with more relatives -

and you'll need a new bigger car to tow it . . .

No I will be towing the old boat, new boat will be on the roof rack (of van). Not a problem as it will be so light. might even transport a small boat inside the old boat so we can have a go at the team prize.
Don't think I will bother with a cat though because they always appear to be so slow. :D

Must go to bed work tomorrow
