Good choice.

I will wash the whole thing gently.......Lux Flakes first?

Black bits missing use a paint pen then as you suggest a coat of satin or matt clear to keep it itself.

VHT products have that and will be fuel/fool proof?

Nice exhaust tube B.

I expect you have the same difficulty with re-chroming over there as we do over here. Eye wateringly expensive at the best of times.

I'm fairly certain that chap you bought the tube from is one of us. Not heard from him in a while though!

As you correctly surmise Jon............getting re-chrome is very expensive down here.

Getting something that one would be happy with the end result is ............impossible.

There seems to be a lot of arrogance in the trade that just buggers things up.

Give some direction as to how you want the job done? HA!.......dream on.

Treated like crap and receive said crap.

I would rather scour the world for nice things that I can use etc.

Sigh

Aside from the high cost and sometime crappy work, it's the inconvenience of not being open weekends that I find to be the biggest problem. Taking time off work to visit chrome platers that may or may not want to do the work depending on existing workloads is a real issue for me.

Tube arrived and really nice.

Shows some originality with shine. Better than new chrome for the Old Lad aye?

Looks good B.

Apply some metal polish and go over the lot with 000 grade steel wool. Will come up absolutely beautiful, but still used if you know what I mean.

If any doubts, search YouTube for cleaning old chrome parts. Lots of good info and tips there.

It's always a difficult decision to make isn't it?
Do i re-chrome or should i look for something in better condition?

I quite like the slightly "weathered" look myself.
Nothing wrong with absolute bling either as long as it all matches up and doesn't look out of place.
