Hang your motor on the transom of your boat whilst it's still on the trailer but don't do the screws up much over, just holding, put the motor on full lock in any direction, grab the skeg & pull in the direction the prop is pushing, one transom screw cup washer starts to lift because of the leverage, it happens more often with soft or very hard transoms.

I nearly lost one in NZ during a race with a lightweight cedar transom, tore a groove right up the transom till one cup washer was resting on top, avoiding only just floating timber!
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Ive just learned something. Seagulls flock together. just been given another one. A guy who knows me saw me out in the boat yesterday. Saw i had a seagull so nock nock on my door and any use to you. Holding a long shaft seagull engine in need of some tlc. Couldnt refuse.

no carb or throttle lever. But otherwise complete with long range plastic fuel tank

2 years ago i had 1 seagull, a 1973 40+ (still have it but it has a bad crankcase leak).
and now today i have 12 motors dating from 1938-1993!
