I purchased this SD last night but wont see it for a month or so ie until the owners son in law does another run from Queensland to Melbourne.
In the meantime, I was hoping that you guys might look over the photos and advise what parts need to be changed to bring it back to original.

PS: Unfortunately I am unable to obtain any additional photos of the gearbox at this stage so do not know if it has the correct number of nipples or the ministry stamp.

You may encounter some problems obtaining the mounting hardware that it originally might have had...........
I bet it has a stamp.

Wow, that’s a very nice original old seagull.
Very good score.
Interesting adaptation of the transom bracket. Looks to be part of the original, and also part of a later model.
Will be interesting to see more photos, when you get it.

It looks like you a good one there. Brass carb body too, which is quite rare. Nice to see the decal. The carb inlet trumpet, copper fuel pipe, bronze float bowl top and throttle lever are nice original items too.
The transom bracket is a newer item, but older ones closer in age to your engine from the 40s and 50s can be found. You can also see some of the original fittings for the military transom bracket.

Very original SD, one of the best I've ever seen.
Even the bakelite K.L.G. spark plug cap is the correct type.

I agree with all the above comments. It does seem to be a very original motor. It is has the cast tank mounts and should have an unscripted clutch lever. It is rare to see one one with a gearbox changed so I wouldn't be worrying on that score. About half have the CIESS stamp so it doesn't matter either way. It is surprising the number of SD's surfacing with part of the sidemount still attached to the drive tube. A good indication that motor hasn't been fiddled with. The earlier a transom bracket you can find the better. The skeletal bracket that came with the "C" and "D" are generally sought after for these motors. The spare prop is a bonus. A replacement fuel cap can be found with patience. Anzani used the same cap at some stage. You have done well. I'll ask for the JM magneto number down the track. Excellent!

Thank you all for your feedback thus far.
With all that has been said, I am now even more excited about this purchase than I was when i first made it.
Will go through other SD threads on SOS to try to get a visual of the correct parts (transom assemblies, fuel cap etc), but if anyone would like to post images here also, that would be very much appreciated.

PS: Hugo, Flywheel number and more detailed photos of the clutch lever will be provided once I've received the outboard. If there is anything else you need, please don't hesitate to ask.

Not sure where this pic came from - most likely these forums, but shows a different style of side mount bracket.

This the one shown in the Ministry of Supply Provisional Working Instructions issued July 1944.
