Reconditioned engines

Post by Nudge »

Has anyone got an idea of the cost of a reconditioned engine from back in the day?
So if I was to take my WS in to get it reconditioned how did the system work and how much would it cost? Did I get my engine back or was it a swap? How much was I expected to pay?

Remember this was back in the day Not now!

Somebody posted some adverts for factory exchange/repair on here some time ago. You sent in your engine and it was overhauled using new factory parts. Of course we now know that a lot of engines have original parts removed and the “latest standard fitted. Magnetos on 102s for example. Not sure of the cost, would have to search.

Hay Thanks guys... That was what I was after. That is a proper answer! :P

Sending your engine for a service had to be almost better than trying to do it your self. (well it was till I looked up what a weeks wage was)
