Re: Series 102 water cooling
Right now I am test fitting the wheelie bin engine mounting.
What was a trial effort evolved as each running session arrived, basically the 102 motor was too heavy for the chipboard base I had.
It is now made a lot stronger and the board is fit for purpose.

Re: Series 102 water cooling
The new motor support worked as I hoped, so did the cooling water !
As I had hoped it was the kinked hose that I found yesterday was the problem.
The flow may look a little thin in the pictures but it is a good solid run of water, the engine was on tickover.

Re: Series 102 water cooling
Excellent. You will find that the water flow at tickover is minimal, but a slight increase in revs to a fast tickover will increase cooling water flow nicely. The water coming out the top of the engine will be like warm pee, as CharlesUK mentioned earlier.

You've done a nice job on that!
Are you in Hout Bay SA. if you are, your local waters don't look too forgiving!

Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Hout Bay, South Africa, where I live.
That dinghy was ours for decades, it went cruising with us to St Helena and Ascension isles, then Brasil, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela and all the way back to Cape Town.
We had a 40 series on it once, long story and an other voyage but that engine was swopped in Brasil for an rubber duck when we had an engine but no tender!

Re: Series 102 water cooling
Thanks for your reply Roy.
I'm glad you managed to get the 102 pumping water a bit better than it did.
And yes, a nice job on your 102 for sure. Well done
Oyster i can assure you that there was no "trickery" from my end.

Re: Series 102 water cooling
Guys, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all those that responded to my questions, as without your replies and information, I would not have been able to complete the 102 engine and test it properly.
That motor has been sold, so this thread can close for now?
I have a second 102 engine but it is very difficult to turn over.
regards Roy
