With the old nipples fitted on the new wire you can use a centre punch to spread the wire in the end of the nipple. Tin the soldering iron using the flux and solder in the lid.
Bit of flux on the nipple and you can transfer the solder on the iron to the nipple.

The important measurement is how much longer the inner is than the outer. Make sure you measure that before sweating the old nipples off.

I used shrink tubing to reinforce the ends of the cable.
