I measured one of the screws from my throttle clamp. Mine are 3/16" x 3/4" 28 TPI cheese head screws, which is a very odd size indeed.

1BA is 28.25TPI and is slightly over 3/16" closeer to 7/32" . Companies usually used the Even BA sizes but the Odd BA sizes where available.

A lot of the Villiers & Amal threads were purposely very strange, so you had could only buy the components from them, just try measuring any of the choke shroud threads & angles.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Thanks - I feel better now of not being able to find anything to fit them ! Maybe a set of small taps might be of use ?

Once it has been worked out let me know so it can be added to this thread:

Other threads I would like to know -
the villiers coil lug fixing - not the 2ba stud end - the part that goes into the coil lugs - presumeably the same thread on the other two csk machine screws ?
The grub screws in the coil lugs ?
The villiers points main adjusting screw and the nut holding the wire connections ?

One thing that would be useful on a thread list - the bolt length as fitted ?

Found this source for odd fixings I had not seen before -

The newer villiers lever - marked - V - 1533 underside ( chromed upper and lower ) appears to be N0 10/24 UNC - major 0.19" pitch 24 pi -
An older villiers lever ( alloy base - chrome top marked Villiers' on top bezel ) appears to be No 10/ 32 - UNF - from measuring and comparing to thread chart info ?

All the amal types are differnet - will check those sometime.
