Connecting Rods and Cranks

Post by GregBda »

I've noticed several different connecting rods marked Seagull I, Seagull 2 etc. What are the differences between them and are they all interchangeable?

Also is the roller crankshaft destined to fail? Or should it be fine as long as a 25:1 mixture is used? Are there any advantages to using the roller crankshaft?

Thanks,

Greg

The other Charles will be right in his element when he can begin to answer some of these.

I defer to him with a sigh of relief - he is your man when it comes to roller bearing cranks and all that.

Sadly he is not managing to log in; I understand our webmaster is looking into it.

That means we can say what we like about him - and he can't reply!

Maybe we should all post horribly incorrect Seagull information to give him a valued sense of worth on his return....

Hi,
needle roller bearings and engines sould never meet. For them to work they must touch, touching causes wear and they fail. I like shells and bushes! They wear till they are worn and wear no more, as they no longer touch, the oil makes up the gap.

Phil
