SD TRANSOM LATCH
Hello everyone,
I'm after the bottom latch that goes on the SD transom, Some are plastic and brass and are all brass. All the SD guys will know what I'm talking about.
Also after a army transom but that's a long shot.
Can pay by PayPal or swap for EFNR or century parts.
PM me what you have.
Jacob

Re: SD TRANSOM LATCH
Post a pic of your transom bracket so we can be sure your starting off in the right place.
We only know of 4 wartime brackets in existence so don't get your hopes up, as they're not usable on any modern hulls! so only a collectors item, & remember you need all of the components illustrated in your parts pictures.

Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
Re: SD TRANSOM LATCH
Some of those are all aluminium as well. The plastic ones are prone to breakage!

Any 102/century transom bracket will be just fine for your SD.
However, with some careful looking around you might be able to source an all bronze (non skeletal) 102 bracket from somewhere which will do the job perfectly well, and of course will look cherry once it's polished up.
The beauty with these brackets is that EVERYTHING is interchangeable.
Trying to obtain the correct period bracket for your SD will be nigh on impossible now. Those few that do survive will probably come with a kings ransom,so the alternative is to go with the next "oldest" type of bracket which a lot of us have done with ours. (keep your bits and bobs though cos you never know what might turn up in the future )
As Oyster has mentioned there are aluminium bits and bobs around for these brackets, some that have bronze and aluminium hardware together as well. No biggy, mix things up a bit. Same part just made from different materials that's all.
And before you ask, no i havn't got any spares. Sorry...
OR
if you're really lucky you might find a complete skeletal bracket from somewhere. Go careful with these though as they can break. One of mine has already been welded some time ago. Better as a display bracket rather than for any serious use. But again they look superb when they're polished.

Re: SD TRANSOM LATCH
Not for sale but are you after a brass thrust block? They are a bit weak.
Personally I don't like the std bronze transom bracket. A std bracket with the hollow brass G clamps and bent over thumbscrews will suffice. A lot of SD's are matched with the skeletal bracket which was supplied with the D and C. Maybe they could be bought separately from Seagull after the war for the decommissioned SD's.

Yep, that's the one Hugo. I would prefer a brass one but a aluminium will do.
Maybe Tam has one for sale.

As per hugo's picture, this style came in aluminium brass/bronze and plastic, I also noticed that Seagull did another style of plastic fuel cap, I have never seen before.

That fuel cap wouldn't by any chance look like this one?
Similar in style to the aluminium ones with "ears" but made from plastic.

I have magically found a aluminium one in a box today so no longer need one.
