With 2 holes on the water inlet.

Have you tried Jeremy? (not sure if he's away boating this weekend)

Thanks Guys.

Looks like I have to get some creative juices flowing using a slot water inlet box as a starting point.............6 beers mulling what to do.........

The original box is really good internally................no skeg.

So change a slot box with a skeg or add a skeg to the holy two .............that is the question.

I have replied to your PM Tam

Out with the welder then!

Might be a good way to go until a good replacement turns up.

Back from boating now Jon.

Bruce, I am sure that you are aware that the early Forty Minus (SJM) had the polished 2 hole gearbox housing. I do not know the change over point. Technically I suspect that the slotted version is better in respect of being less likely to have the inlet blocked up, especially by sea weed. This is often happening to my FVs on the estuary in South Devon. But I like originality, otherwise whats the point?
Anyway, getting to the point, I haven't got a spare housing. With a couple I need to do minor weld repairs, but do not have the equipment or skill for that.

FV boxes are about, but you might have to buy a whole engine.. Still the littles forties are still fairly cheap.

Looks like Tam has come up trumps in that box and a High Amal bowl has been sent to me.

Yes indeed he has!

The gearbox is perfect and Tam also found me a High Amal bowl.

Arrived today and I know that I am the only lad down under with a perfect as new http://www.homebargains.co.uk 100% recycled plastic shopping bag.
