SD Copper Flywheel Cover
After several requests I have remanufactured a few SD copper flywheel covers.
These will only fit wartime & prewar Villiers coolie hat flywheels.
These are made to exactly the same dimensions as the original covers & from the same gauge material, 17 gauge copper sheet which is much harder to work with than the aluminium ones I made for John.
They were not annealed before pressing & punching as I felt a work hardened version would stand the bumps & knocks of life better.
Sorry that the're so expensive, but you try finding someone that will laser cut you a 6 5/8" diameter disc of 17 Swg copper with a 10mm hole in the middle for less than the cost of 5 pints of lager.
They cost £21.00 each, P&P will be charged at cost.
The ones in the picture have been polished but the ones I'm supplying are unpolished as I don't think any of you would want to pay for 15 minutes of my time polishing yours.
PM me if you would like one.

They look good Charles, I personally feel they are very good value, I could not make them for that.Charles uk wrote: Sorry that the're so expensive,

Nice job
Won't this affect the rarity value of engines that have the copper tops from new? Perhaps you should ask to see the old one first

Re: SD Copper Flywheel Cover
It won't affect the brass topped carb, unplated water pipes & exhaust, & the fact that there only seems to be 2 tranches of numbers that seem to be copper styled.
SD's like all prewar Seagulls are over valued but only by us.

Re: SD Copper Flywheel Cover
On SDs that originally had copper tops the ones I've owned had brass washers, unless I'm getting mixed up with the earlier ones, but I don't think so.
There's another job for the man who's compiling the register.

Re: SD Copper Flywheel Cover
Both my copper tops have steel washers but I have noticed that the brass nuts are different SD 125 (middle pic) has a larger one compared to SD 9242 with the smaller one.
Jan... do you have any spare Villiers pulleys? I've had to replace with later seagull one as original is bwoken

Hi Hugz,
I think I can help you with a SD Villiers pulley.
Must find the right box in one of the ship's lockers.
The middle pic has the correct flywheel nut.
The 'domed' one is for the post war till late 50's Seagulls.

That would be appreciated Jan, might needs some rings too, very low compression....Jan wrote:Hi Hugz, I think I can help you with a SD Villiers pulley.

Re: SD Copper Flywheel Cover
Almost out of copper flywheel covers, won't be remanufacturing any more, too expensive, little demand!

Re: SD Copper Flywheel Cover
Sounds like your initial batch was just about the right size!
