tank clamps on a 102
where should the bolt be ?
at the back for more protection ?
underneath ? (fouls the fuel tap)
between the tank and flywheel ?

Thanks Hugz, Yes, I've seen that pic, it only works if the tap knob is pointing out, I've never been able to leave the tap in that spot because it leaks.

I've fially found enough parts to complete AC860 to sell, decided to put the clamps inside.
Re: tank clamps on a 102
I generally position the joint a little in front of the tap. They are pretty robust so have no fear of damage. AC's are few and far between downunder, I'm surprised you are relinquishing your custodial position.

Re: tank clamps on a 102
if you have "that many", you could always release one or two in my direction.
with regards to the tank clamps, i generally try to make sure that the screw part of the jubilee clamp/strap is directly underneath the tank (almost right next to the tank mount itself) that way it looks a bit neater.
have you tried removing the fuel tap from the tank and then annealing the little copper washer before re-fitting the tap. (sometimes you might need 2 washers to acheive the desireable position pointing straight out)

Thanks for that, i found a tap with a copper washer (dont have equipment to anneal copper) and re-positioned the straps. Yes it does look better that way.

do you have access to a gas cooker in your kitchen?
anything that has a resonably hot source of heat will do, heat the washer to cherry red and hey presto- done. easy as that, not difficult at all.
