170 Fuel Connector Replacement

Post by andrew »

Can anyone recommend an easy replacement for the fuel connector on a 170? Don't mind what brand, but prefer something standard like yamaha/suzuki/etc so in the future compatible connectors are available.

Tohatsu has a small round one but not sure if connector diameter is large enough to fit in the existing 170 engine tray hole (I can tap new threads).

I've seen this come up on the forum before but not as a specific topic and not with any clear answer that I can find.

Thanks!

I can't give you an accurate answer, but just to point you in the direction of the main SOS website.

The engine was fitted with an Amal fuel pump and remote tank. (Though the tank connectors did not last and now they are replaced with an ‘off the shelf’ connector set, available from most good chandlers.)

So all I can suggest is that you can possibly get a "universal" adapter in a Chandlers.

I was always curious where the remote tank connected on the 170, just looked up a clip on YouTube and grabbed a screen shot, for anyone else who is not familiar with the model.
