Tightening top nut

Post by Donald A »

This may sound stupid, but how do I tighten the top dome nut on top of the flywheel, when the flywheel and crankshaft keep turning?

And what is the torque no for this or is it just good old fashioned FT........

As long as the thread is clean and not all beaten up, I just hold the flywheel put a ring spanner on the nut and give the spanner a tap with a hammer to nip it just a little.

In the book of words Chapter 5 page 65 #4
"install dome nut and tighten with wrench.
After dome nut has been tightened snugly, strike the wrench smarty with a hammer and set the nut securely."
