Hi everyone, I have just started my first 102 restoration. I have done 40's etc but not a 102. I have the power head, fuel tank and exhaust tube. What carb and gearbox/prop went on these? WHCL459R6
Thanks Will

The 102 used the Amal 2 jet carb exclusively. However, the replacement if it failed, in later years, was the 416, so some may have been changed. Strangely enough that carb will run reasonably happily on 10:1, which older, pre 1968, motors should run on.

Search on here for barge pusher gearbox & prop, 13" four bladed cloverleaf & 4:1 gearbox.

Hi, just looking back at 102 help. regarding the prop and gear box; 4:1, does that mean 4 turns of the flywheel to 1 of the prop?
cheers, red.

Hi, Just checked my TC102 gear ratio, and it is 5 flywheel turns to 2 prop turns. Do I have the wrong gearbox?

If you check your serial number in the identifier it should tell you all.

TC **** L which is a 102 with a clutch & a 2.5:1 gear box, long shaft & pre 1963.

It would need an H to have a 4:1 lower unit from new.

Thanks Charles, it seems the g.box is right for the engine. what would a 4:1 box be used for though?
The reason I queried my box is that the engine gets a bit warmer than it should when made to work hard and then breaks down . I've had to use a smaller prop than normal to get the speed up and get good cooling. But of course the boat speed is down then.

This when its full of crap and people. Or towing other boats back home.

That would imply your cooling system needs checking from A to Z.
