QB series, kill switch woes

Post by andypdq »

Hello All,
Our QB Osprey has had two kill switch failures in the last four years. The first wouldn't stop the engine, not too drastic. The second, failed closed, so the engine wouldn't run, potentially disastrous, as the engine is used as an auxiliary on our dive club rib.
As the person responsible for club equipment, I have taken the decision to by pass the kill switch altogether, the logic being, it's one less component to fail and not being able to instantly stop the auxiliary engine is far less hazardous than it not starting, when it is really needed. Has anyone else had this problem with QB series motors?

Oh, an afterthought, I wonder wether I could adjust tickover screw on the carb to zero and use that to stop the engine.

Any comments appreciated, Andy.
