Poll to illustrate buying prices of FV's, & FVP's.
If your an owner of an FV or an FVP please complete the following poll.
If you own more than one for each price bracket, I'm afraid you will have to get another forum member to enter your second or third entry.

FVP £40
FV £53
I hit £25-50 as it is closer to both.

I love the 10600/145 turns!!!

First one was £15, second was about £20-25.
I have only ever paid over a £100 for two out of the 30+ motors I have.
Stelios, Does that include shipping?

The doors lately have opened wide! I have found the way to pay only about/less than 30pounds for small engines and about/less than 50pounds for big ones.

I've just been bollo**ed for missing out the "I got them for nothing box", you can't win.
I don't think you ticked the right box Keith, at least I'm not the only one who gets things wrong.
I can't edit the totals, so if someone with 1 that should go in the 26 to 50 could put it in the below 25 box we should be right.
Could they also post that they've done it so that it doesn't happen twice, & I'll remove this request.

That's about right, if all fails, blame me, Charles
It was a long time ago, you can't expect me to remember every price exactly, it was somewhere around twenty five quid, more or less a cannot remember so I ticked more, so will I get the blame for putting up the price on the little model forty's.

I know of a FVP restored selling for just over £100 and a F with correct amal carb going for around £140 or thereabouts.

I've never bought a restored Seagull & have always felt that most "restorations" have more in common with Joan Rivers face!
60 year old brass tanks without a dink, don't look right, like poor old Joan.
Just like SD's with brass tanks with Seagull transfers & not a hint of the green or grey paint that they left Seagull's assembly shed covered in, packed in those nice tongue & groove oak boxes with the serial number stenciled in white on the side & with the same number also on the exhaust tube.
I thought that to restore an object was to return it to it original appearance & mechanical condition.
In my opinion an honest green or grey working SD with scratches & chips is worth way more than a pimped up special.
Ask any of the serious Seagull collectors how many blinged up Seagulls they've bought, I don't know of one.

Is that a restored F, Oyster?
Re: Poll to illustrate buying prices of FV's, & FVP's.
No it is the one sold a while back to a forum member
Re: Poll to illustrate buying prices of FV's, & FVP's.
I've yet to see either a green or grey SD. Some evidence of green paint once but no green or grey tanks. How about posting some pics of this standard finish ex works? It will be a usefull reference for future rebuilds.

As a noobie to this game, that would be extremely beneficial to me and I'm sure many others on here.

Sorry I don't have one but have seen 5 or 6 over the years.
Only 2 of them were naval grey.
Charles P & I came to the conculsion that Arthur Bray & perhaps Seagull if they got their hands on any, made them look like they were not military surplus, as at that time labour was cheap & cleaning them up might raise the customer perceived value.
All they had to do was source a transom bracket that would work on a conventional transom.
That might explain the the very heavy bronze & iron device that we think the Dutch made for theirs even though they seem to have imperial threads.

A bit harsh to call a nicely cleaned up, polished and restored SD a "pimped up special"
I've seen a couple of SDs with remains of green paint, but I've seen a lot more with no green paint, black steel tanks with the original seagull decal which has obviously never seen olive green.

Me too, and I have looked very closely to see if there was any sign of paint in the smallest nooks and cranny, not sure how they would remove it all.Oyster 49 wrote: I've seen a couple of SDs with remains of green paint, but I've seen a lot more with no green paint, black steel tanks with the original seagull decal which has obviously never seen olive green.
