On the subject of Rope Pull Handles, dads motors in the 60's had a wooden ball on the end of them, with a hole slightly bigger in one side than the other for the knot.
Every few years he would cut the rope and stick in a new one. I will always remember the length of the cord. He used to measure it from the tip of his middle finger to his shoulder

Now i really don't want to ask this question, but we are all friends here, so if you have one of these old pulls, How big is your Ball?
See, I knew this would come out badly.

What i mean to say is; What size is the wooden ball on the rope, Why you ask?

I remember that these floated, and as i lost them over the side on a number of occasions, in my youth.
And when the skipper had finished yelling at you, You just motored around in a circle and you just picked it up again. By then the yelling had most likely stopped.

Not like the black plastic handled thing i lost a few days ago. With British Seagull molded on it. Just like the one in Horsley-Anaraks picture.

WoW Thanks

Yep, that's the old ball on a string.
Should be able to find something at Bunings or Masters, to make a couple of them.

Funny the head is about the only place i haven't been whacked, with one, but there's still time.
