What is it?

Post by notav8 »

Hi All,
Another recent purchase. This unit did have a Victa Lawnmower engine that is obviously incorrect. Could it have been a Hurricane motor, or a Simplex?
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Mark

Looks like Bitannia BMB, Swordfish or Triton to me.

Thanks Oyster, I think its an Australian unit. Air Cooled, probably lawnmower type engine.

Hi Mark

That is a 'clipper'. They were Australian made and sold so you could take the engine off your mower and mount it on the leg an go out on your boat, and when finished just transfer it back. That victa motor should be correct... I know there were options.
Prop is correct for that leg.

I'll have a dig and see if I can find an ad for it, I've got one somewhere.

Cheers

Hi BP,
Thanks for the info. I do have a Clipper with a Victa 18 engine, and a Clipper with a Villiers 7F. Both units are very similar, but still lots of differences to the one I am asking about. One thing is the exhaust. On my other Clippers, they have a Finned Casting (Cooling) as part of the upper leg. My Whatsit ? looks to have a removable manifold, with a similar system to the Waterboy.
Cheers,
Mark

Another Pic. of the Gearbox. Some similarities with the Britannia maybe, except for the Brass adjuster at the front of the gearbox.
