Re: Railway Museum outboard
Looks like a BMB, I think.
Re: Railway Museum outboard
Yes Britannia light twin. Early 1930s with the air cooled exhaust. I have a very early one with the earlier non villiers ignition. Nice

G'day Rob,
Nice to see another Melbournian on here.
I agree with Oyster. If I'm not mistaken, our friend over in the west (collector inspector) has the same model in his collection.
Regards,
Spiro

Spoke to him on the phone approx. 2 weeks ago. At that stage he was readying himself for another week away in the bush.Nudge wrote:I wonder where he has been lately, haven't seen him for a bit.... hope he is ok?If I'm not mistaken, our friend over in the west (collector inspector) has the same model in his collection.
I'm sure he's not too far away.

Re: Railway Museum outboard
I do!
Mechanically perfect.
And, may I say, very easy to upload directly to SOS these pics. Looks like my past issues are fixed.

Re: Railway Museum outboard
This will make 5 that I know of. 2 in Oz, 3 in the U.K. Another one was on eBay a while back, so that makes 6. No idea where that one went though.
Re: Railway Museum outboard
If anybody has any spares, I'm looking for a flywheel cover, to either buy, or borrow so I can measure it to make a new one. My has cracked from overtightening the flywheel removal nut. Not me I hasten to add

Re: Railway Museum outboard
The Light Twin was introduced in late 1932 and had a 'fishtail' type exhaust outlet (see photo). Sometime in 1933 they changed this to the style that Bruce has on his, and in 1934 the cooling system and ignition system changed to that which the Railway Museum motor has.
Re: Railway Museum outboard
Nice looking engine that
I have one with the later villiers magneto and one of the earlier ones.
