marston at Black Country Museum

Post by geofflena »

Sorting a few pics out - this one is in nice nick - on display in one of the shops at the Black Country Museum - Tipton.
Interesting place if you are ever that way.
( edit - no idea why it going sideways at full resolution - the PS image is upright - maybe my old firefox ? )

If it's the same one I surveyed 10 years ago it should be either OA 163 or 168 (poor writing in the notes).

Was it in the motor cycle shop?

On reflection it's not the same one, that tank logo doesn't look Marston at all & the one I saw wasn't a Special.

Yes - motor cycle store. It was a while ago and I was in company so didn't think to get he serial ?
We do stop there now and again on canal cruises - so if I'm back sometime I will check the no.

I was visiting my family in the UK a year ago , and also visited the Black Country Museum. I took some photo's of said engine, including serial number.
It is AO 163. Not too sure how to add the photo though.

Saffer check your pictures to see if it's got a slide exhaust vent or a tennis racquet.

On the side of the exhaust is a slider. ( looks like a slightly bigger piece of meccano ) If you give me an e-mail address, I can send them to you.
