Has anybody out there had one of these apart........Concerning the 'end caps' the bits with "Seagull " embossed on them , are these soldered on to the main body ?

When the site gets back to running proper check out the FAQ. There are several ways to repair a brass tank. One at least will meet your needs.

I’ve just had one apart for dent removal. The ends are brazed to the tank body and consequently the only way I could remove them was to cut them off with a hacksaw along the line of the original seams.Re-assemble using the method outlined in the FAQ section.
