Man and machine in harmony! 8) Love the way 102s jump into gear as soon as you turn away for a second :P

I'm not sure I'd recommend trying to start a Seagull by using a drill on the nut, as I've seen pics of 2 cranks with the threads broken off by overtightening by the drill on the flywheel nut.

I also bought an SD with no spark, that had iron fillings in the head from trying to reinvigorate the spark with a drill, I don't know it he was letting fuel through it when he was spinning it.

It might make more sense to make a small starter cup held under the nut that the drill engaged with for this purpose.

As you won't have access to a drill when in the boat it might be better to ensure that your Seagull starts by the normal method.

Charles

I didn't include the 29 minutes of B trying to rope start the motor as there was really no point or viewing pleasure to come from that.

I understand where you are coming from about possibly damaging the crank but we did not have any other means of starting it. The motor was not sucking in any fuel for some reason so that is what we had to resort to.

More details from B soon.

That makes it even more unforgivable, no fuel = no lube, just pour some in the carb.

And there was me thinking that B had TOTAL CONFIDENCE that this 102 was going to start straight away with no bother.

Totally 100% agree with Charles here re starting ANY seagull. From the rope please.

By any chance were the 6 P's overlooked in some way?

At least it runs any way.... time for more tinkering for even better starting me thinks. Slightly plugged fuel line perhaps?

AND more importantly we can see what Bruce actually looks like the handsome devil
