Something happened

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum, because something happened I didn’t plan. I‘ve bought some seagulls the last weekend. It’s a very interesting collection of eleven engines and some parts I got from an inheritance. It may can take some time for getting an overview and I’m not sure that I’ll keep them all, but it will be interesting. And maybe I will need some help and knowledge from time to time.

Best regards from Germany,

Johanna

There's plenty to keep you occupied in that little lot! 8) You should be able to get a lot of help on here as well. They're a very knowledgeable bunch. Welcome Aboard.

Excellent, several 102s in there too, including a 102 plus by the look of it. Great photo! :P

Wish I could inherit that lot! Would give me a year of projects to work on, as if I need more :P

Does look like a barge pusher prop on the left, always wanted one of those even though I have nothing practical to run one on.

Hope you have fun sorting through them. If you have the time please post more photos as you do.

For me it’s also a lot of work but I like it, actually I’m in the restauration of an aircooled inboard Diesel engine from 1969.

I did not even have seen the seagulls by my own. I’m living 200km away from the sellers place, my father had only 50km. So he had to pay and pic them up for me.
Maybe I’ll get the first engines this weekend when he’s visiting us.

If I got the correct engine numbers there are three 102‘s from 1951 to 1953 and two from the 70‘s. Also the five blade silver century, a Century 100 and four forty plus/ featherweight. And all of them should turn, I was told. That would be great.

There are two pictures from the announcement I can show you.

And you‘ll get more pictures as soon as possible!

Hello everyone,

Can’t wait until tomorrow. My family has been here for a visit today and they’ve brought the first five engines. Two of the forty’s, the big Century and two of the 102´s, all are turntable and you can feel the point of compression. And tomorrow there will be some time for bringing them to the workshop and have a shy look. I’m really excited.

You‘ll get an update.

For those who are interested, here are som pictures of the Inboard Diesel and the work í´ve done:

Just checked some little things, filled some fuel into the carb and it wants to get back to work. Absolutely amazing.

They seem nice honest engines - lots to play with now !
I like you air cooled inboard - very strange beast - never seen anything like it before ?

It’s not a popular thing, but aircooled inboard engines have been used for work- and lifeboats for some decades.

I‘m really excited to have some more time with the Seagulls, and I’m also excited to get the rest of them… Everyone I’m talking to is shocked about the fact that I’ve bought 11 in a lot.

Today was a Seagull Saturday. After some work to the carburettor and the fuel tap the 102 was ready for a test run. We had a 15 minutes test run without problems so it would be nice to get it onto the water for a longer experience. But before I will change the gearbox oil and it will get some polish. Got EP140 the last days and some spark plugs for 6€ each. I’m also unsure if it wouldn’t be nice to repaint the lower unit and the propeller? What do you think about it?

After that I had some time left and got my next victim out of its edge, its a 03/1969 build forty featherweight. I‘m sure you’ll like the video.

And tomorrow will be Seagull Sunday for some hours.
